All About Area One
It all begins with an idea.
Area 1 is comprised entirely of low altitude airspace (at and below FL260) in the mountainous areas west and southwest of DEN. Area 1 serves arrival and departure traffic in and out of the major ski country airports, e.g., Aspen, Durango, Eagle, Farmington, Grand Junction, Gunnison, Hayden, Rifle, and Telluride, as well as the Aspen and Grand Junction TRACONs. This Area also includes sectors that provide final sequencing into D01 for the northwest and southwest arrival gates, and works the west departure gate from D01.
Area 1 Rep

Now this is a story all about how, my life got flipped turned upside down. And I'd like to take a minute, so please don’t run. I'll tell you how I became the new rep of area one. In Aurora Colorado, born and raised, at Centennial airport I spent most of my days. When a coworker of mine who was kind of a snob, started telling me to apply for this ATC job. With a Bachelor of Science, in aviation of course, I thought this would be a great way to join the workforce. So, Joe V. and I applied that very night and our aviation careers finally took flight. Twelve years later working in area one, our fearless leader Jake felt like his time as rep was done. I felt compelled to continue all his great work in hopes of helping the area build up our teamwork. I know it ain’t easy to be in leadership, but I hope to accurately represent most of the membership. Now that you know a bit of my story, here’s a few more things to know that are mandatory.
One of my favorite movies is probably Fargo, as for my most used emoji 🤷♂️
I like to vacation at beach resorts and my favorite food is tacos of course. now that you know more about me, please don’t hesitate to shout “what’s up Paco E!” I hope you found this excerpt somewhat entertaining, now get back to controlling or on the job training.
